Thought it best to start recording my progress on this, in many ways, which might spur my brain on to move a little more quickly/do more to make sure that my emmigration to the USA actually happens, and that it happens as smoothly as possible. Gotta do whatever you can to make your dreams come true. But gotta make sure you're happy in the meantime.



So here's my cost breakdown:

Visas: £1000
Flight: £550
Deposit on studio appartment: £900
Two months rent: £1800
Spare cash: £1000
Total: £5,250

Aim for £5, 500 by October 2013.

Current Progress: £1, 760 (32%)

Proffessional Progress
  • 2:1 (Hons) BA in English Literature from the University of Warwick.
  • Trained Street and Hip Hop dancer, currently studying ballet, soon to be studying global dance forms and Samba at Band on the Wall, Manchester.
  • Currently performing in various different independent artists showcases and open mic nights across Manchester.
  • First Official Broken Rose event secured - Flow! which will take place on the 14th October 2011 at Contact Theatre, Manchester, aiming to be a regular event but launching as part of the Manchester Literature Festival (more info coming soon, keep checking http://www.brokenrose.eu/ for details). Aim to send details and videos to performing arts companies in California, both before and after the event, along with regular updates about the event.
  • Currently in a professional performing arts job, training with a festival that is recognised around the world.
  • Have almost 4 years of experience in the industry.
  • Have been recently working freelance as a choreographer in the North West.
  • Currently taking part in various training courses in the performing arts.
  • Extract of play, Bitten, to be performed in October 2011.
Professional Aims
  • Set up Broken Rose as a business in the UK (August 2011)
  • Attend IETM in Krakow, Poland, October 2011
  • Continue to develop a relationship with Contact Theatre, Manchester.
  • Develop the first Broken Rose show, Human, which will encompass dance, physical theatre and live music in an immersive experience.
  • Rewrite the play The 378 to fit in more with the hip hop genre.
  • Finish the play Cobwebs.
  • Achieve the next step in job status, in October 2011.
  • Attend APAP, New York, January 2013.
  • Start looking for jobs in California by Feb/March 2013.
